Fashion Week: what it changes for your stay
Four times a year, the city tightens up. Traffic, prices, availability: what to plan for if your dates fall during the shows.
Paris hosts four fashion weeks a year — women’s ready-to-wear in March and late September, men’s in January and June — plus haute couture. During these weeks the centre of the city changes pace: taxis become scarce in the late afternoon, and the streets around the Palais de Tokyo, the Grand Palais and the Marais close off intermittently.
The direct consequence is on prices: hotel demand rises sharply and rates follow, in our apartments as everywhere else. If your dates are flexible, move them by a week: you will find the usual prices and a far quieter city.
If your dates are fixed, book early and plan on the metro rather than a car. All seven of our addresses are less than five minutes from a station — during those weeks, that is the deciding argument.
